Setup

A clean setup is three guides in order: install the file, load the set file that matches your portfolio and level, then move the terminal to a VPS so it stays online.

That last one is not housekeeping. In the EURUSD Patient simulation (2010–2025, Dukascopy data) the strategy held open exposure through almost the entire period, so a terminal that is only on while you watch is not running the record you read.

Troubleshooting

An expert advisor that sits on the chart and never opens a trade almost always has one of ten ordinary causes, and ruling them out in the right order takes minutes rather than an afternoon. The checklist starts with the AutoTrading button and ends with a terminal still running an old copy of the file.

Nothing on these pages changes what the strategy does. Kestrel has no stop loss: a basket under water can stay open, and the floating loss is the risk you carry while it does. The figures for each portfolio and level are on the results pages.

Where this fits in the five steps

Buying and running Kestrel is five steps: choose your pairs, then Patient, Active or both for each; choose the level whose recommended capital matches your account; buy the annual licence; install on MetaTrader 4 and load the set files; then follow the record, where every figure carries its date, feed and period.
