I Don't Want to Trade. Can I Still Use Kestrel Expert Advisor?

What Kestrel is (and is not)

Kestrel EA is a grid expert advisor for MetaTrader 4: it opens from its own signal, adds to the basket in small, capped steps when price moves against it, and closes the whole basket together at its target. It never closes a single trade at a loss; until the basket closes, the loss is floating.

Like the kestrel that hangs still in the wind before it strikes, it waits, holds and closes the basket once.

It is a licence for a program, not a place to deposit money.

• The account is opened in your name at a broker you choose; you fund it and withdraw from it without asking us.
• You can switch the expert advisor off at any moment.
• We never receive, hold or manage client funds.

Recommended capital by level

You choose one to four pairs — EURUSD, GBPUSD, EURCAD and AUDCAD — then Patient, Active or both for each. Patient adds to a basket less often and holds a smaller worst case, while Active adds more often, returned more in the backtest and reached a larger worst case. Both follow the same rules and close the basket the same way.

Each record has a worst case, and the capital we recommend for a single record is three times that number; for a portfolio it is the recommendations of its records added up. Horizon figures, euros at fixed rates, simulated on Dukascopy data (EURUSD and AUDCAD run to September 2026, GBPUSD to December 2025, EURCAD from January 2014):

Over the period of each record, the simulated profit works out at between 10.6% and 26% a year on the capital we recommend for it. That is a simulation on historical data, not an expectation, and the worst day of every line is in the same table.

Summit multiplies the starting lot by five and Zenith by ten, and our recommendation moves by the same factor. It is a recommendation, not a requirement: you decide what goes into your own account.

The worst moment itself: on 22 October 2012 the K3 account floated €3,704 against itself at fixed rates. No basket closed at a loss, because there is no stop loss; the size of the account is what decides whether the strategy survives. 1. Choose your pairs and variant.
2. Choose the level whose recommended capital fits your account.
3. Buy the annual licence: Horizon €999, Summit €4,999 or Zenith €9,999, VAT included. It covers the expert advisor, the set files of the four pairs at your level, updates, the client Telegram group and email support.
4. Install on your MetaTrader 4 on a VPS and load the set files of your pairs.
5. Follow the record: every figure on this site carries its date, feed and period.

What we never do

We are not a fund, a managed account or a portfolio manager, and we do not offer investment advice. Every figure here is simulation over historical data plus a forward test on demo accounts running since September 2026, and a future episode worse than every episode in the sample is possible.
